Practical, Hands-On Training

This is an interactive training day combining tutor-led learning with demonstration, discussion, scenario work and supervised practical activities.

You’ll have the opportunity to practise key stages of a holistic facial, including:

Client preparation and positioning
Learn how to prepare your client comfortably and professionally while maintaining dignity, safety and appropriate protection.

Cleansing and skin analysis
Practise cleansing and product-removal techniques before carrying out supervised visual and tactile skin observations.

Product application
Develop your understanding of product functions and how product choices can be adapted to different skin characteristics.

Facial treatment sequence
See a complete holistic facial demonstrated from preparation and cleansing through to exfoliation, massage, mask and finishing products, where appropriate.

Facial massage
Explore core massage movements including effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, vibration and gentle pressure-point work, with a focus on appropriate pressure, rhythm and continuity.

Aftercare and treatment planning
Learn how to provide suitable individualised aftercare and accurately document the treatment provided.

Course Schedule

Morning – Essential Knowledge

The morning focuses on building the professional and theoretical knowledge needed before practical treatment begins.

Topics include professional practice and ethics, consent and confidentiality, health and safety, hygiene, facial anatomy, skin structure, skin types, client consultation, contraindications, skin analysis and product selection.

You’ll also work through practical scenarios and activities to help you apply this knowledge to real treatment situations.

Afternoon – Demonstration & Practical Training

The afternoon moves into hands-on treatment skills.

Your tutor will demonstrate the complete holistic facial sequence before you begin supervised practical work.

You’ll practise cleansing, skin analysis, product application and facial massage techniques, followed by learning how treatments can be adapted for different client and skin needs.

The day concludes with aftercare, client records, professional standards, reflection and guidance on your next steps.

Holistic Treatment Adaptation

A holistic facial is not simply about following the same routine for every client.

You’ll explore how the treatment experience can be adapted according to individual needs, including the treatment environment, sensory preferences, positioning and observable skin characteristics.

Training considers approaches for clients with dry, reactive, mature, oily and combination skin, alongside the importance of working within your professional scope and recognising when treatment may not be appropriate.

Health, Safety & Professional Practice

Safe practice is embedded throughout the course.

You’ll learn about:
